Plugs 2x2 VAG |
|
For diagnostics of VAG cars the so-called 2x2 plugs are necessary, if the 16-pin OBDII-jack has not already be included. It is possible – if your car is too old – that reading out via interface is not possible although the 2x2 plugs are present, since only the output of blinking codes is supported.
The 2x2 plugs were used until app. 1994 and were then replaced by the 16-pin OBDII jacks, that are sadly no evidence for OBDII. Starting at 1998 the cars became compatible to the new norm. As other characteristics in use of VAG cars the use of the 2nd K-line instead of the L-line on Pin 15 of the OBDII jack and the use of the CAN-Bus in the very new cars from 2003 on should be noted.
In this cars the diagnostics gateway can be selected via address reply 19. This collects the necessary data and keeps them ready for readout via OBD. |
